Lizarazu Leads Hawkeyes in Fall Season Finale

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Freshman Manuela Lizarazu lead the University of Iowa women’s golf team at the Battle at the Beach on Nov. 2-4. Lizarazu finished with a season-best, 54-hole score of 219 (+6), tying for 19th.
Auburn claimed the title with a 54-hole score of 845 (-7). Auburn is followed by TCU (862; +10) and Texas (865; +13). Iowa finished 15th, carding a score of 918 (+66). 
 
FINISHING STRONG
Freshman Manuela Lizarazu registered four birdies on the front-nine en-route to a three-over-par third-round finish. 

  • Lizarazu notched a season-best, 18-hole score of 70 (-1) in the first round.  
  • Sophomore Brett Permann jumped up seven spots on the leaderboard after recording three birdies to finish the third round one-over-par and tie for 63rd.
  • Sophomore Sophie Liu carded a season-best 72 in the third round to climb up 10 spots from the second round. She tied for 69th. Liu also recorded a new career-low, 54-hole score of 231 (+18).
  • Sophomore Stephanie Herzog and senior Shawn Rennegarbe finished the third round one-over-par.

Iowa opens its spring slate, traveling to Peoria, Arizona, on Feb. 24-25 to compete in the Westbrook Spring Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
