IOWA CITY, Iowa — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its week four national rankings on Monday, rating the University of Iowa women’s team No. 18 and the men No. 20.

“I’m happy to see both the men and women moving in the right direction at the national level,” Iowa Director of Track and Field Joey Woody said. “Our goal is to consistently be a top 10 team for both, so we still need to keep progressing through the end of the season.”

The Hawkeye women have been ranked in the top 20 three times since 2008, and the men have ranked in the top 20 11 times. The men and women are ranked in the top 20 at the same time for the first time since the USTFCCCA started tracking rankings in 2008.

The Hawkeyes have 12 individuals ranked 15 times in the top 25 of their respective events. The men’s 1,600-meter relay team is also ranked after running a school record 3:04.76 at the Tyson Invitational on Saturday.

The Hawkeyes compete in their final meet of the regular season next Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
