Freshmen Lead Hawkeyes On Day 1

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Freshman Dana Lerner paced the University of Iowa women’s golf team in the first round of the Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational, carding an 18-hole score of 74 (+2) on Thursday at El Tigre Golf Club.

Arizona is in first place with an 18-hole score of 286 (-2). Tennessee (287; -1) and Idaho (298; +10) are in second and third. Iowa is in 8th with an 18-hole score of 306 (+18).

FRESHMEN LEAD HAWKEYES
Freshman Dana Lerner is tied for 16th after the first round. Lerner notched three birdies on the back nine, finishing two-over-par. Freshman Manuela Lizarazu registered one birdie to record an 18-hole score of 75 (+3). She is tied for 21st.
Sophomore Brett Permann is tied for 38th after registering a one-round score of 77 (+5). Junior Kristin Glesne and sophomore Stephanie Herzog are tied for 52nd with 18-hole scores of 80 (+8).

INDIVIDUALLY SPEAKING
Senior Shawn Rennegarbe, junior Sophie Liu and sophomore Annalee Dannegger are competing as individuals for the Hawkeyes. Dannegger and and Liu are tied for 56th. Rennegarbe is tied for 64th, respectively.
