Iowa Finishes Day 1 of Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic

ATHENS, Georgia – Freshman Manuela Lizarazu paced the University of Iowa women’s golf team in the first round of the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, recording an 18-hole score of 76 (+4) on Thursday at the University of Georgia Golf Club.

Augusta and Kennesaw State are tied for first with 18-hole scores of 290 (+2). South Carolina (295; +7) is in third. Iowa is in 12th with an 18-hole score of 308 (+20).

LIZARAZU, GLESNE, LERNER LEAD HAWKEYES
Freshman Manuela Lizarazu led Iowa through the first round, tying for 33rd. Lizarazu notched two birdies on the front nine to finish four-over par. Senior Kristin Glesne and freshman Dana Lerner are tied for 39th after registering an 18-hole score of 77 (+5) on Thursday. Glesne carded one birdie.
Sophomore Brett Permann is tied for 45th after registering two birdies. Senior Shawn Rennegarbe recorded three birdies in the first round, finishing with a one-round total of 79 (+7). She is tied for 48th.
