IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team announced Monday the addition of Edina Schmidt for the fall 2019 season.
Schmidt is an outside hitter from Berlin, Germany. She competed on the German Junior National Team in 2018. She currently plays for the club team VCO Berlin.
“Edina is a long and strong outside hitter with elite level international experience,” Iowa head coach Bond Shymansky said. “She became a go-to hitter for the German Junior National Team this past season and will add size, skill, power and energy. Edina has a great competitive demeanor and a steady focus to be the best.”
The Hawkeyes released their 2019 schedule last week. The schedule features 15 home matches and matchups against 13 teams that qualified for the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Click here for the complete schedule.
