3 Earn Preseason B1G Women's Golf Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Manuela Lizarazu and freshmen Morgan Goldstein and Lea Zeitler were named 2019 Women’s Golf Big Ten Preseason Honorees, the conference office announced Wednesday.
 
Lizarazu competed in all 11 tournaments last season. The sophomore from Bogota, Columbia, carded a career-best finish at the Diane Thompson Invite (Sept. 29-30), placing third, with a three-round total of 223 (+7). Lizarazu tied for 42nd at the Big Ten Championships last spring with a three-round score of 151 (+7).
In high school, Goldstein, a native of Las Vegas, was an All-Southern Nevada first team, All-Mountain Region first team and All-Northwest League first team as a senior in high school. She placed first at the Drive, Chip and Putt at the Augusta National with the first and only perfect score in its five-year history. Goldstein had won the Collegiate Toyota Cup Tournament at La Costa Tournament at La Costa Resort in San Diego.
 
Zeitler competed in many international tournaments prior to Iowa. The freshman from Fiecht, Mieming Tyrol, Austria, was awarded a second-place finish at the 2017 Austrian Matchplay Championship. Zeitler has been a member of the Austrian National Team since 2010.
 
The Hawkeyes open the 2019 season at the UNI Dual in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on September 2.
