Hawkeyes Defeat Panthers in Fall Opener

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s golf team opened up the 2019 fall season with a match-play win at the UNI Dual on Monday. The Hawkeyes outscored the Panthers, 6.5-1.5, at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.
 
Six Hawkeyes won their matchups to score, including freshmen Jaquelyn Galloway, Lilly Gentzkow, Morgan Goldstein, sophomore Manuela Lizarazu, junior Annalee Dannegger, freshman, and senior Sarah Overton. Sophomore Dana Lerner tied her opponent to round out Iowa’s 6.5 points.  
 
“We would like to thank UNI, Coach Bermel, and their team for hosting us in Cedar Falls today,” head coach Megan Menzel said. “It was a great way to start our year, and the team came out and played well. It was a great opportunity for us to bring most of our team and for everyone to get a college tournament day under their belts.”
 
Overton and Gentzkow both won, 6-5, while Dannegger won, 5-4, Galloway won, 4-3, Goldstein won, 3-2, and Lizarazu won 2-1.
