IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s golf team travels to Madison, Wisconsin, to compete in the East West Match Play Challenge Sunday, September 22 – Tuesday, September 24.

Sunday, Sept. 22 — Stroke Play — 9:00 a.m. (CT)
Monday, Sept. 13 — Match Play — 9:00 a.m. (CT)
Tuesday, Sept. 24 — Match Play — 8:30 a.m. (CT)

The East West Match Play Challenge will have live scoring for stroke and match play available on golfstat.com.
THE COMPETITION
The field includes eight teams: Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Grand Canyon, Kansas State, Texas Tech, UC-Davis, and Wisconsin.
LINEUP
The Hawkeyes’ starting lineup includes freshman Lea Zeitler, sophomore Manuela Lizarazu, freshman Jacquelyn Galloway, junior Stephanie Herzog and freshman Morgan Goldstein.
Senior Sarah Overton will be competing individually.
THE COURSE
University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin — Par 72, 6,324 yards.
University Ridge was named after the landscape features left by a glacier. The glacier stopped, forming the backbone of the ridge that separates the land into groups of rolling hills and valleys, which is where the course now sits.
The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. when it opened in 1991.
PREVIOUSLY AT THE EAST WEST MATCH PLAY
Iowa competed in the first annual East West Match Play Challenge in 2014 hosted by Michigan in Ann Arbour, Michigan.
Iowa dropped a 4-1 decision to Michigan in the match for seventh place.
HAWKEYES TEE OFF SEASON
The Hawkeyes competed at the UNI Dual on September 2 and won with a score of 6.5 – 1.5.
Freshman Jaquelyn Galloway (4-3), sophomore Manuela Lizarazu (2-1), senior Sarah Overton (6-5), freshman Morgan Goldstein (3-2), freshman Lilly Gentzkow (6-5) and junior Annalee Dannegger (5-4) won thier matches and Dana Lerner tied.
The Hawkeyes also competed at the Branch Law Firm Invitational on September 9-10, placing 13th with a score of 902 (+38).
Lizarazu tied for 58th – best finish on the team – with a three-round score of 227 (+11).
Herzog and Goldstein tied for 63rd with a total score of 228 (+12).
Freshman Jacquelyn Galloway tied for 77th with a three-round score of 232 (+16).
3 NAMED BIG TEN PRESEASON HONOREES
Three members of the University of Iowa women’s golf team — sophomore Manuela Lizarazu, freshmen Morgan Goldstein and Lea Zeitler — were named 2019 Big Ten Women’s Golf Preseason Honorees.
Lizarazu competed in all 11 competitions last season including a career-best finish at the the Diane Thompson Invitational, placing third, with a three-round total of 223 (+7).
HAWKEYE NEWCOMERS
This season, the Hawkeyes welcome four newcomers — Jacquelyn Galloway, Lilly Gentzkow, Morgan Goldstein, and Lea Zeitler.
Galloway is from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Gentzkow from Willmette, Illinois, Goldstein from Las Vegas, Nevada, Zeitler from Feicht/Meiming Tyrol, Austria.
SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE
The 10-meet regular season schedule includes five invites during the fall and five invites during the spring season.
The Hawkeyes will travel to Mexico twice. Iowa will compete at the Battle of the Beach Tournament in Cabo San Lucas on November 1-3 before hosting the third-annual Hawkeye El-Tigre Invite in Puerto Vallarta on March 19-21.
ON THE HORIZON
The Iowa women’s golf team heads to Starkville, Mississippi, to compete in the Magnolia Invitational on October 13-15.
