IOWA CITY, Iowa – Freshman Lea Zeitler was named the Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Battle at the Beach Nov. 1-3, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly honor of her career.
Zeitler fired her season-best 18-hole score of 68 during the third round of the Battle at the Beach in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, on Nov. 1-3. She tied for 16th and recorded a three-round total of 218 (+2). She carded 10 birdies and 44 holes at-or-below par.
The Fiecht/Meiming Tyrol, Austria, native is the first Hawkeye golfer to earn Big Ten Golfer of the Week since senior Shawn Rennegarbe on Oct. 3, 2018.
The Hawkeyes will open their 2020 spring season Feb. 16-18 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.
