MYLENEK CONTINUES TO FIGHT
Senior Nathan Mylenek finished fifth at the NCAA Regional meet on Nov. 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His finish earned him all-region honors and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row. Mylenek is the school-record holder in the 10,000 meters. He set the mark in 29:53 at the 2017 NCAA Regionals. He placed 141st last year at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
MYLENEK NAMED BIG TEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After leading Iowa to a first-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational on Sept. 6, Nathan Mylenek was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week. The Big Ten weekly honor is the first of Mylenek’ s career, and the first by a Hawkeye men’s cross country runner since Jeff Thode won the award in 2010.
TOP HAWKEYE FINISHER
Senior Nathan Mylenek has been the men’s top finisher 10 races in a row. Mylenek surpasses Jeff Thode’s record of eight straight races in 2010-11 and will graduate two wins shy of Kevin Herd, who had 12 straight top-finishes from 1993-94.
