IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s and men’s track and field teams are ranked 13th and 16th, respectively, by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 polls.
The women are led by seniors Laulauga Tausaga and Jenny Kimbro. Tausaga, a 2019 NCAA Champion in discus, was recently named to the 2020 Bowerman preseason watch list. Kimbro currently ranks No.1 nationally in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.25 that ranks second on Iowa’s all-time list.
The men are led by senior Jaylan McConico, who is the top 60-meter hurdler in the country with a time of 7.66, ranking fourth on Iowa’s all-time list. McConico was named B1G Track Athlete of the Week by the conference on Dec.18.
The Hawkeyes return to the UI Rec Building on Friday and Saturday hosting the Hawkeye Invitational. Weight throw begins Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) at the HTRC. Saturday events start at 10 a.m. (CT).
