IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Big Ten office announced Wednesday, that the University of Iowa senior Jaylan McConico has been named Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the week.
McConico is coming off a first place win in the 60-meter hurdles at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Kentucky, on Jan. 25 finishing 7.72 McConico has competed in the 60-meter hurdles in three meets this season and has finished first each time. At the Jimmy Grant Invitational on Dec. 14., he set a new personal best 7.66, jumping from fourth to second on Iowa’s all-time top 10 list. That time ranks No. 3 in the country and No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference.
The weekly conference honor is the second of McConico’s career and the second for Iowa this season.
The Hawkeyes return to the UI Rec Building on Jan. 31- Feb. 1 hosting the Black and Gold Invitational.
