Hawkeyes Set for Black and Gold Intrasquad

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s golf team is set to compete in the Black and Gold Intrasquad on October 3-4 at Finkbine Golf Course.

“I am excited to get to play and get back into tournament mode,” sophomore Lea Zeitler said. “For me this is the kick off of a 3-week tournament stretch. The last competition I played was end of July, so it’s definitely time for me to get out on the course again. I’ve also never played an event at Finkbine, so it will be exciting to get competitive rounds in on our home course.”

The Hawkeyes will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday on their home course. The weekend is the first tournament the Hawkeyes have played at Finkbine since the 2018-19 season due to the 2020 spring season being canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s going to be a long weekend and I need to focus on staying present and patient,” freshman Klara Wildhaber said. “My goal is to bring that trophy home with me on Sunday night, but I really don’t want to get caught up on that though.”

Iowa tees off at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 and 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4 in Iowa City, Iowa.
