IOWA RANKS NO. 30 IN LEARFIELD DIRECTOR’S CUP

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa’s Athletics Department ranked No. 30 in the nation in the final standings of the Learfield IMG College Director’s Cup. The Director’s Cup awards points based on success in NCAA postseason events.

Iowa’s 24 sports teams amassed 658.5 points through the 2020-21 sports seasons. Iowa has finished in the top 40 nationally each of the past three years.

The Hawkeye football team, field hockey squad and soccer team all scored points as fall sports. During the winter seasons, Iowa’s point total was bolstered by the national championship wrestling team, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s and men’s gymnastics, and men’s and women’s indoor track.

During the 2020-21 seasons, Hawkeyes’ teams have captured Big Ten championships in soccer, wrestling (regular season and postseason), women’s gymnastics (regular season), and men’s indoor and outdoor track and field.
