IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior right side hitter Courtney Buzzerio has been named second-team All-Big Ten. The announcement was made by the Big Ten Conference Office on Wednesday.
Buzzerio, a native of Chino Hills, California, was a first-team selection last season. Buzzerio is the 10th honoree in school history to earn Big Ten postseason accolades multiple times.
She led the Hawkeyes in kills (436) and aces (30), and ranked third in attacking percentage (.229), and total blocks (42).
Buzzerio finished the season averaging 14.5 kills, 4.7 digs, and 1.4 blocks in 30 matches. She finished her distinguished Hawkeye career ranked 20th in program history kills.
Sophomore setter Bailey Ortega was also selected as Iowa Volleyball’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient. The Davenport, Iowa, native led the team in assists (838) and assists per set (7.83).
Her 57 assists against Air Force on Sept. 17, set a new career high and were the most by a Hawkeye in a single match this season.
