McKiver Named Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa track and field freshman Jenoah McKiver was named the Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The weekly honor is the second of McKiver’s career. The Hawkeyes’ last Men’s Track Athlete of the Week was Jaylan McConico on May 5, 2021, and LaSarah Hargrove earned the honor on the women’s side this season on December 15.

The Hawkeye sprinter ran the second-fastest 400-meters in the NCAA this season (45.78) and won the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on January 29. His mark leads the Big Ten and ranks third all-time at Iowa.

The High Point, North Carolina, native also anchored the conference-leading 4×400-meter relay (3:05.68) last weekend with a 45.12 split. Iowa’s time currently ranks seventh in the NCAA and is fifth all-time at Iowa.

Additionally, McKiver leads the conference in the 600 meters (1:16.08). He shattered the school record back on January 22 at the Wieczorek Invitational, breaking the meet, track and facility records.

McKiver and the Hawkeyes return to action February 4 and 5 in South Bend, Indiana for the Meyo Invitational.
