IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa junior Mac McClear has been named to the 2022 PING All-Midwest Regional Team for the second consecutive season. McClear is one of 25 Division I men’s golfers from around the Midwest to earn the distinction.
The Hinsdale, Illinois, native was also named to the All-Big Ten second team last month after leading the Hawkeyes across numerous statistical categories this season. McClear led Iowa with a 72.2 stroke average through 33 rounds and posted eight Top 25 finishes in Iowa’s 10 outings, including four Top 10 finishes and a fifth-place effort at the Hawkeye Invitational.
McClear posted a career low round of 64 on Feb. 15 at the Puerto Rico Classic, matching the third-lowest 18-hole round in program history. He also posted the low Hawkeye 54-hole score of the season at that event, finishing at 203 (-13) for a career best. McClear closed out his season with a 14th-place finish at NCAA Regionals, where he qualified to compete individually. McClear posted a two-under par score of 214 over 54 holes to cap off his season.
