Charles Jahn, Sean McCarty to Compete at John Deere Classic

SILVIS, Ill. – Former University of Iowa golfers Charles Jahn and Sean McCarty will compete at the John Deere Classic, with the first round taking place Thursday.

Jahn emerged from a six-for-one playoff at the Pinnacle Country Club qualifying event in Milan, Illinois, on Monday to earn a spot in the field at TPC Deere Run. The Sperry, Iowa, native drilled seven birdies and finished his round five-under par before draining a 40-foot putt in the playoff to secure the final qualifying position.

A member of the 1992 Big Ten Championship team at the University of Iowa, McCarty tied for 77th in his last appearance at the John Deere Classic in 2018. He is a member of the University of Iowa Letterwinners Club Hall of Fame and the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame. McCarty is currently the head PGA Golf Professional at Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville, Iowa.

This year, the native of West Branch, Iowa, competed at the PGA Championship, marking the third appearance in a Major championship of his career. McCarty also competed at the US Open qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, earlier this month, advancing to a playoff following regulation play.

McCarty and Jahn are both set to tee off at 8:57 a.m. (CT) Thursday, with McCarty starting on hole No. 1 and Jahn set to start on No. 10.
