ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a final round 295 (+7) during the final round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday at the University of New Mexico Championship Course. The Hawkeyes tied for 15th with a 54-hole total of 901 (293-313-295).

Sophomore Paula Miranda paced the team, finishing in the red over her final 18 holes. The Mexico native moved into a tie for 23rd place on the final leaderboard following a final round that included four birdies (three in a four-hole stretch). Miranda was at or below par in two of her three rounds.

Freshmen Madison Dabagia and Riley Lewis tied for 60th place with 227s. Dabagia had her best round of the tournament Monday, finishing with a one-over par 73.

Ohio State won the tournament by 10 shots over SMU, finishing with an 853 (-11) total. Kent State’s Mayka Hoogeboom was the individual medalist, shooting an eight-under par 208.

“I think we learned a lot this week, we had two solid rounds and one we would certainly like to have back. I thought the team kept fighting today and we look forward to getting back after it in Madison. Paula looked solid this week and it was great to see her in the top-25 of a very strong field of players.”

The Hawkeyes will return to action from Sept. 18-20, traveling to Verona, Wisconsin, to compete in the Badger Invitational.
