VERONA, Wis. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in a tie for eighth place following the first round of the Badger Invitational, which is being held at the University of Wisconsin University Ridge Golf Course. The Hawkeyes shot a 298, putting them two strokes out of seventh place.
A trio of underclassmen – sophomore Paula Miranda and freshmen Riley Lewis and Shannyn Vogler – are leading the Hawkeyes. Miranda and Vogler are tied for 12th with one-over par 73s (+1), while Lewis shot a 74 (+2) to tie for 23rd place.
Lewis had four birdies in the round, while Miranda and Vogler recorded three birdies, respectively.
Notre Dame leads the field with a four-under par 284. The Fighting Irish’s Lauren Beaudreau is the individual leader with a five-under par 67.
