Hawkeyes Compete at Inverness Intercollegiate

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Iowa men’s golf team opened play at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Monday at Inverness Golf Club. The second round was suspended due to inclement weather and will be completed on Tuesday morning.

The Hawkeyes finished the first round tied for 14th place. Iowa advanced to 13th in Round Two, with Hawkeye golfers having between two and three holes remaining when play was halted.

Senior Ronan Kleu was Iowa’s low finisher in the first round with a score of 73 (+2), while senior Garrett Tighe is the low Hawkeye scorer overall midway through the second round at six over par.

Iowa is competing against a talented field, including 12 GolfStat top 50 teams. No. 11 Georgia Tech was out in front after the first round at 287 (E). It lead No. 8 Texas Tech in second place, as well as No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 38 Louisville and No. 40 SMU, all in a tie for third place.

Round Two and Three at the Inverness Intercollegiate will conclude on Tuesday morning. Groups will finish out the second round starting at 7:45 a.m. (CT) before playing continuously into Round Three with the same pairings. Iowa is paired alongside USC and South Alabama.
