HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Freshman Riley Lewis’s four-under par 68 highlighted the University of Iowa women’s golf team’s final round at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Sunday at the University of Denver Golf Club.
Lewis started the final day of play strong with four of her five birdies coming in the first 10 holes to finish with a career low round. The Edwardsville, Illinois, native now sits tied for sixth all time for the lowest single round score en route to finish tied for 15th place with a 216 (E) total.
As a team, the Hawkeyes finished sixth overall after shooting a 288 on Sunday. This score brings their tournament total to 876, which is tied for the fifth-best 54-hole total in program history.
The sixth-place finish was due to two strong team performances in rounds two and three, shooting a 547 (-2), putting them 10 strokes out of fifth place Denver.
Freshman Shannyn Vogler tied for 22nd place with a 218 total (71-74-73), while freshman Madison Dabagia tied for 53rd with a 219 (76-71-72). Dabagia had four birdies during Sunday’s round and finished at or below par in her final two rounds.
Vanderbilt won the tournament with a 25-under par 839. New Mexico’s Napat Lertsadwattana was the individual medalist with a 10-under par 206.
