Lawrence, Kan. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished in 15th-place following the final round and a half of play at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, which is being held at the Lawrence Country Club. The Hawkeyes tallied a 319 and a 158 bringing their tournament total to 805.
The Hawkeyes continued play in the middle of round two this morning at 10 a.m. They completed their final 6-8 holes in round two then finished with a 9-hole round three.
The trio of underclassmen – sophomore Paula Miranda and freshmen Madison Dabagia and Shannyn Vogler – led the way for the Hawkeyes in the final two rounds of play. Miranda improved round after round as she shot a 38 (+2) and finished tied for 33rd place with a 196 (+16) total.
Dabagia and Vogler finish tied for 62nd with a 203 total. Dabagia finished with a 42 (+6) and Vogler a 38 (+2) tallying one birdie each.
Kent State won the tournament with a 21 over par 741. Kent State’s Mayka Hoogeboom was the individual medalist with a two-over par 182.
