FRESNO, Calif. – Two University of Iowa women’s golfers – freshman Shannyn Vogler and senior Jordan Amelon – are in the top 25 on the individual leaderboard at the Fresno State Classic, which is being held at the San Joaquin Country Club.
Vogler is tied for 19th place, while Amelon is tied for 23rd heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Vogler shot a four-over par 148 on Monday after finishing with rounds of 71 and 77. She was one of eight women to finish at or below par in the opening round where she was in a tie for fourth after 18 holes with a one-under par, 71. The Moline, Illinois native, bagged four birdies on day one.
Amelon fired a one-over par 73 during her first round before shooting a 76 in round two. She had two birdies in each round en route to a 149 total.
The Hawkeyes are in 11th place in the team standings with a 29-over par 605 (300-305). Grand Canyon is atop the leaderboard with a 16-under par 560 with two individuals leading the tournament, sitting at two-under.
