Hawkeyes Shoot 2nd Round 292 at Lady Buckeye Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two University of Iowa women’s golfers – freshmen Riley Lewis and Shannyn Vogler – both finished at or below par during their second round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the OSU Scarlet Course.

Lewis finished with a one-under par 71 – her seventh round at or below par this season – to move up into a tie for 32nd place. The Illinois native fired a 76-71 on Saturday, giving her a 147 total.

Vogler followed up a two-over par 74 during the morning round with an even par 72, putting her in a tie for 25th place with a two-over par 146. The Moline, Illinois, native went four-under par during a three-hole stretch, eagling the par 4 11th before posting back-to-back birdies on the par 5 12th and par 3 13th.

After sitting in 13th place through Round 1, the Hawkeyes shot a four-over par 292 over their second 18 holes to move into 11th place. Iowa is six shots out of eighth place heading into Sunday’s final round.

Host Ohio State is leading the tournament with an 18-under par 558, while Michigan State (-11), Penn State (-9) and Maryland (-4) are all under par. Ohio State’s Caley McGinty, Penn State’s Sarah Willis and Maryland’s Patricie Mackova are atop the individual leaderboard with nine-under par 135s.
