MADISON, Wis. β Junior Paula Miranda shot an even par 72 to lead the University of Iowa womenβs golf team in the opening round of the Badger Invitational on Sunday at the University Ridge Golf Course.
Miranda carded five birdies, including four over her final seven holes en route to her even par round. The Mexico native is tied for seventh place β four shots off the lead. It is her 12th career round at or below par.
The Hawkeyes shot an eight-over par 296 on Sunday, which is just four shots off the lead held by host Wisconsin and Delaware. South Florida is third with a five-over par 293.
Sophomore Madison Dabagia carded a two-over par 74, which included an eagle on the par five sixth hole. Sophomores Shannyn Vogler and Riley Lewis are both tied for 30th with three-over par 75s.
True freshman Ximena Benites, who is competing as an individual, shot a two-over par 74, which puts her in a tie for 20th place.
