Hawkeyes Head to National Invitational Championship

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa Swimming and Diving heads to the National Invitational Championship (NIC) in Ocala, Florida, on March 14-16. The NIC is hosted by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training facility.

Iowa swimmers Kennedy Gilbertson, Jenna Kerr, Sabina Kupcova, Scarlet Martin, Alix O’Brien and Olivia Swalley qualified for the invitational.

“The NIC is an opportunity for a group of our swimmers to compete at a nationwide event and gain valuable postseason experience,” head coach Nathan Mundt said. “This meet requires an NCAA “B” standard time for qualification, so it is going to be fast and exciting. We’re looking forward to racing against following the Big Ten Championships and testing ourselves against quality competition from all over the country.”

The NIC provides a postseason championship event for Division I swimmers that achieved B cut standards but did not qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The three-day event starts each morning at 8:30 a.m. (CT) beginning on Thursday, March 14. Fans can follow along through the MeetMobile app and the official Iowa Hawkeye Swim & Dive social media platforms and hawkeyesports.com.
