2005 Fall– Competed at Purdue Invitational and Wisconsin Invitational…compiled 3-4 record in singles…did not compete in doubles.
2005 Spring- Posted a singles record of 6-11, going 6-5 at No. 5 singles… recorded a four match win streak with victories over Marquette, Toledo, Drake, and Wisconsin…defeated Brian Ko 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 in Iowa[apos]s conference opening victory over Wisconsin…scored a 2-6, 7-5 no decision against Michigan State[apos]s Michael Flowers in Big Ten.
2004 Fall – Competed in the Big Ten Singles Championships… went 0-1 in singles competition… compiled a record of 3-3 in doubles play… teamed with J.P. Ritchie to go 3-2 in doubles play.
2004 Spring — Led the team in conference victories with three including two at the No. 3 position… tied a team-best five dual wins… posted a singles record of 5-13 (2-3 at No. 3, 3-10 at No. 4)… recorded a 3-15 doubles record (0-11 at No. 2, 3-4 at No. 3)… notched victories over Penn State[apos]s Clint Keithley, Minnesota[apos]s Andres Osorio and Wisconsin[apos]s Tom Bagnato… posted back-to-back wins at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles in Iowa[apos]s wins over Marquette and Indiana State… went 2-1 teamed with Aaron Schaechterle at No. 3 doubles.
2003 Fall — Posted a 3-2 doubles record… went 1-1 teamed with Walter Valarezo, 1-0 with Chaitu Malempati, 1-0 with Ryan Reid and 0-1 with Alexis Lebron… posted a 1-7 record in singles competition… competed at both the ITA Midwest regionals and the Big Ten singles tournament.
High School — Competed as a freshman at Dowling High School (IA) before transferring to Avon Old Farms Prep School (CT) for his remaining three years of high school… as a freshman, was crowned Iowa Class 2A state singles champion… compiled the best career singles record in Avon Old Farms school history at 65-3… went undefeated in singles competition as a senior, posting a 15-0 record… recorded a 20-1 singles record as a junior, setting the school record for most wins in a season… his only loss was in the New England final… named team most valuable player all four seasons… coach was Henry Coons… also lettered in basketball, cross country and squash… achieved Headmasters List student status as a senior.
Personal — Parents are David and Elizabeth Hoak… has an older brother Michael… grandfather was a member of the Iowa golf team… pre-business major.
