Chyna Davis is entering her third season as a member of the University of Iowa track and field staff as an assistant coach.
In 2024, Davis coached Paige Magee to a pair of All-America honors and Iowa’s school record in the 100 hurdles. Magee was a second-team All-American in the 60-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles. Magee was also a runner-up in the conference in the 100 hurdles. During indoor season, Lia Love set the program record in the 60 meters at 7.24, while Magee ran a sub-8.00 in the 60 hurdles to etch her name at the top of Iowa’s record book.
In her first season, Davis coached three All-Americans, including Big Ten Champion Myreanna Bebe in the 60-meter hurdles. Bebe was a second-team All-American during indoor season. Paige Magee joined Bebe as an All-American hurdler during outdoor season. LaSarah Hargrove was the runner-up in the 200 meters at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Outdoors, Magee was the silver medalist at the Big Ten Championships in the 100-meter hurdles.
Her primary responsibilities include men’s and women’s sprints and hurdles.
Davis served as the head track and field coach at Emmanuel College for the last four years. Prior to Emmanuel College, she was an assistant coach at Keiser University and Jacksonville State University for a combined three years of experience.
Davis coached the Lions to 2021 men’s indoor and outdoor Conference Carolina runner-up finishes. She coached three DII NCAA national runners-up and 11 DII NCAA All-Americans (eight First Team) while at the helm of the Emmanuel College track and field program. In addition, the Youngstown, Ohio, native coached an NAIA national champion and five All-Americans, one NCCAA All-American and 31 conference champions in total.
As an athlete, Davis competed at Tiffin University in Ohio where she was a Second Team DII All-American in the 60-meter hurdles and an NCAA qualifier in the triple jump.
