MENDRISIO, SWITZERLAND – The Iowa women’s basketball team concluded its four-game exhibition tour in style Thursday night, cruising to its second consecutive victory with a convincing 116-77 win over San Vitale. Iowa finished the tour with a 2-2 record.
The Hawkeyes had six players score in double figures for the second straight contest. Sophomore Crystal Smith led all scorers with 21 points, while also collecting five rebounds. Senior Kristi Faulkner contributed 19 points and dished out a game-high nine assists, which included a couple of highlight film assists. Junior Jamie Cavey and sophomore Johanna Solverson each tallied 16 points and Cavey grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Sophomore Morgan Kasperek and senior Jennie Lillis each added 11.
“This was a great way to wrap up a fabulous trip,” said Iowa Head Coach Lisa Bluder. “We did a good job of improving each game. Our younger players really stepped it up and I think this trip was very beneficial for the upcoming season.”
The Hawkeyes return to Iowa City from its 12-day Italy trip on Friday.
