Williams To Represent Jamaica in Pan Am Games

University of Iowa senior Shellene Williams will represent hernative Jamaica in the 400 meters at the 2003 Pan Am Games and the 2003 World Outdoor Trackand Field Championships. Williams ran a personal-best 52.68 for sixth place in the 400 meters atthe Jamaican National Championships in Kingston to qualify for the international competitions.

A native of Old Harbour, Jamaica, Williams became only the second student-athlete inUniversity of Iowa women’s track and field history to win two Big Ten titles at the sameconference meet. She won the 400 meters and anchored the winning 1,600-meter relay in May.

The 2003 Pan Am Games are scheduled for August 6-10 in Santo Domingo, DominicanRepublic, and the 2003 World Outdoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled for August22-31 in Paris, France.
