Iowa Finishes 11th At Big Tens

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – The Hawkeyes ran to an 11th place finish at the Big TenChampionships Sunday morning on the campus of Purdue University. Michigan captured theteam title, edging second-place Michigan State by three points, 70-73. Michigan’s margin ofvictory was the smallest in the history of the championship.

Michigan State’s Michelle Carson won the individual title, running the 5,000-metercourse in 17:24. Spartan Jamie Krzyminski followed Carson to a second-place finish, but itwasn’t enough as Michigan placed six runners in the top 25 to claim its fourth title in schoolhistory.

Junior Sarah Arens fronted the Hawkeye effort, finishing the race in 58th place with atime of 18:58. Arans has paced the Hawkeyes in the last 11 meets she has competed in.
