Manhattan, KS – The Hawkeye men’s golf team finished eighth after the third round of the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate was cancelled due to rain early Tuesday afternoon.
The low score of the tournament belonged to true freshman Bennett Hammerberg. Hammerberg carded a 150 (+6) to place him tied for 19th. Sophomore Brian deBuhr finished in a tie for 27th with a two-round total of 152 (+8). True freshman Jon Feldick carded a 154 (+10) placing him tied for 31st. Todd Larson and Robby Storm tied for 36th with first and second round scores of 155 (+11). Matt Larson finished the tournament tied for 48th with a 163 (+19).
The team championship went to Missouri with a final score of 576 (E). Drake finished second with a two-round total of 584 (+8), and Kansas State finished a close third with a total stroke count of 586 (+10). The individual championship was taken by Austin Hackett of Southwest Missouri State, who fired off a 140 (-4).
The men’s golf team will travel to Cincinnati, OH to play in the Xavier Invitational October 13-14.
