Ferentz's Squad 15th in ESPN Poll

Oct. 5, 2003

The Iowa football team has moved up four positions in this week’s ESPN/USA Today Top 25 poll, claiming position No. 15 after having dealt Michigan a 30-27 loss on Homecoming 2003 last Saturday inside legendary Kinnick Stadium.

The Hawkeyes, ranked 15th, are one of seven teams from the Big Ten included in this week’s ESPN Top 25.

The Hawkeyes, 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten Conference play, are one of seven league teams included in ESPN’s list. The others include Ohio State (3rd), Minnesota (13th), Michigan (19th), Purdue (20th), Wisconsin (22nd) and Michigan State (24th).

Iowa does not play until an Oct. 18 date with the Buckeyes in Columbus, OH. That game will feature the two teams that ran the table in Big Ten play a year ago and shared the 2002 Big Ten Conference football championship.

Iowa’s next home game is Oct. 25 against Penn State. Iowa also entertains Illinois (Nov. 1) and Minnesota (Nov. 15) inside Kinnick Stadium this fall. The Hawkeyes’ games against Penn State and Illinois are sold out; a limited supply of tickets remain available for the contest with Minnesota.
