Wide receiver Maurice Brown and center Brian Ferentz will not suit up for the Iowa football team’s game Saturday at Ohio State because of injuries suffered earlier this season. The announcement was made by UI head coach Kirk Ferentz.
Brown, Iowa’s top returning receiver, continues to make progress. His status will be reviewed again prior to next week’s game against Penn State.
“Mo continues to make progress and we’ll have to re-evaluate his situation next week,” said Ferentz. “Brian’s condition has deteriorated during the past 10 days and he will not be ready for this game.”
Ferentz indicated that Eric Rothwell will move to center and either David Walker or Mike Jones would start at left guard. Ferentz said the starting nod at left guard would be a game-day decision.
Iowa and Ohio State, last year’s Big Ten co-champions, will tee it up shortly after 2:30 p.m Iowa time. The game will be televised live to a regional audience by ABC-TV.
