IOWA CITY – The Iowa soccer team fell, 3-1, to Wisconsin-Milwaukee on a cold rainy night at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes fell despite out shooting the Panthers, 13-6.
The game was even in the first half as both teams were exchanging possessions. Wisconsin-Milwaukee broke through in the game’s 40th minute when Brenda Neighbauer scored on a header off a corner kick from Nicole Motl. The Panthers added the second goal of the half with 36 seconds remaining when Motl recorded her second assist on Brenda Andrews score.
Iowa cut the deficit to one at the 55:57 mark on a goal by Katelyn Quinn. Quinn scored in the bottom left corner of the net after receiving a pass from freshman Lindsey Phillips. The goal is Quinn’s team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee added an insurance goal in the 64th minute to cap off the game’s scoring. Sara Lewis fired a magnificent shot into the net from 25 yards out to beat the outstretched arm of Iowa goalkeeper Brooke Peterson.
