The Hawkeyes are one of four Big Ten Conference team included in the ranking of the nation’s top 15 teams. Ohio State (6th) Michigan State (10th) and Michigan (13th) joined Iowa in the rankings that will ultimately determine the participants in this year’s Nokia Sugar Bowl — college football’s national championship game for 2003-04 — in addition to the Rose Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl and Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Oklahoma and Miami remained as the nation’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams, according to the BCS.
Iowa returns to action Saturday when it entertains Illinois at 11 a.m. inside historic Kinnick Stadium. The game is sold out. ESPN Plus will provide live television coverage.
The BCS standings could possibly change dramatically after Saturday. Oklahoma plays Oklahoma State, Michigan plays Michigan State. USC plays Washington State, and Florida State plays Notre Dame in just some of the other games involving teams currently included in Series’ list.
