Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz took questions from Hawkeye fans from across the country in his Wednesday night Hawk Talk radio broadcast at Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Caf? in Iowa City.

Hawk Talk, a 90 minute program hosted by Gary Dolphin, is broadcast live to more than 40 Hawkeye Radio Network stations across the state and worldwide on hawkeyesports.com.

Here is some of what the coach had to say.

(on the performance of Edgar Cervantes and Jared Clauss) “The work they’re doing is very tough and very physical and sometimes unnoticed. (Edgar Cervantes) key role is to block and Jared is the same way. Guys like that are the reasons we’ve been off to such a great start so far.”

“He’s had a good week of practice and looked pretty good. We’ll see how he looks tomorrow. Unless something unforeseen happens, we’ll get him back in. Maybe the arrows are going to be turning up a little bit for us.”
Head Coach Kirk Ferentz on Maurice Brown

(on this week’s practices) “Practice is going real well. We’ve had two good days and hopefully we’re going to have one tomorrow. Then we’re going to close it up and have a real good day on Saturday.”

(on Illinois’ strengths) “Their offensive line is big, but they have been hurt in the skill positions. Defensively, I think their strength is the linebacker corps.”

(on wide receiver Maurice Brown) “He’s had a good week of practice and looked pretty good. We’ll see how he looks tomorrow. Unless something unforeseen happens, we’ll get him back in. Maybe the arrows are going to be turning up a little bit for us.”
