Nov. 15, 2003

Iowa football seniors Nate Kaeding and Jared Clauss have been named to the 2003 Academic all-District VII Football Team – University Division. Kaeding is a placekicker from Iowa City while Clauss is a defensive tackle from West Des Moines.

Clauss, a second team district academic all-American last year, has a 3.53 grade-point-average while majoring in Communication Studies. He has already been named to three academic all-Big Ten teams and will be named a fourth time within the next few weeks.

Kaeding, named the nation’s top placekicker last year, has a 3.48 grade-point-average while majoring in history. He was named to the second academic all-America team a year ago after being named to the first all-district team.

Clauss has 29 tackles this year and is considered a strong candidate for post-season honors. Kaeding is Iowa’s career scoring leader with 335 points. Both players will be four-time lettermen with the Iowa football team.
