Big Ten Player of the Week announcement

Iowa’s Bob Sanders and Nate Kaeding have been selected Big Ten Conference Players of the Week for their efforts in the Hawkeyes’ 40-22 victory over Minnesota last Saturday inside historic Kinnick Stadium.

“Look at that stat line. Bob Sanders had a career against the Gophers.”
Gary Dolphin, the radio voice of the Hawkeyes.

Sanders and Kaeding were among the senior student-athletes playing for their final home game at member of the Iowa footballt team. Sanders was a one-man wrecking crew, collecting 16 tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, forcing three fumbles and recovering one of the Gopher miscues.

Kaeding kicked four field goals including a 55-yarder that tied his career best. The 2002 Lou Groza Award winner – and one of three finalists for this season’s Groza Award — was responsible for 16 of Iowa’s 40 points.

Sanders, Kaeding and the nationally ranked 2003 Iowa Hawkeyes travel to Madison, WI, for a date with the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday. Game time at Camp Randall Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised live to a regional audience by ABC.
