IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa men’s tennis program has announced the signing of J.P. Ritchie to a National Letter of Intent. The announcement was made earlier today by Head Coach Steve Houghton.
The Bartlesville, OK, native is ranked third in the Missouri Valley section and is ranked among the top 100 singles players in the nation. Ritchie is also a standout in the classroom at Bartlesville High School, carrying a 4.0 grade point average and is ranked number one in his class.
“J.P. has already had a lot of success at the regional and national level,” said Houghton. “I believe he has the potential to do even bigger things at the collegiate level. He will be a great addition to our program.”
Ritchie chose Iowa over Arkansas, Oklahoma State, North Carolina State, Tulane and Tulsa. He will begin competition for the Hawkeyes during the 2004-05 academic year.
