Dunn Inks Three Recruits

Dec. 8, 2003

The Iowa men’s gymnastics program has announced that three recruits have signed national letters of intent to perform for the Hawkeyes in 2005. The announcement came this afternoon from Iowa Head Coach Tom Dunn.

“We have set the cornerstone, with these three guys, of an outstanding recruiting class” said Dunn.

All three gymnasts are solid all-around performers that have the ability to immediately fill the holes left by Iowa’s five graduating seniors. Jacob Becker, a native of Northampton, PA, competes for the Lehigh Valley Sports Academy. He has won numerous state and regional titles during his prep career and was the 2002 Junior National pommel horse champion.

Curtis Kleffman competes for the Parkettes National Gymnastics Training Center in Allentown, PA, but hails from Washington, NJ. Curtis also holds a Pennsylvania state all-around title and is a former member of the Future Stars National Team.

Tom Buese, from Gainesville, FL, trains at Sun Country Gymnastics. Tom was the 2003 Florida Gymnast of the Year and the Region VIII floor exercise champion in 2002 and 2003.

“We are very excited about the future of Hawkeye gymnastics. This is, by far, the strongest group we have ever signed during the early signing period,” said Dunn.
