IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team is ranked 12th in the GymInfo Pre-Season Coaches Poll. This is the highest pre-season ranking in school history for the women’s team.
“The coaches’ poll is a gratifying reflection of the national recognition that our student-athletes have gradually developed and earned over the last three seasons,” said Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach Mike Lorenzen. “We have every reason to believe that, with a healthy team, we will finish the year above our pre-season rank for the third year in a row.”
UCLA is ranked #1 in the country, followed by Georgia and reigning National Champion Alabama. The Hawkeyes are one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25.
The GymHawks will kick off the 2004 season at the Cancun Invitational at Cancun, Mexico, January 2.
