More on the Hula Bowl

The running hasn’t stopped for Iowa senior running back Fred Russell. One of Iowa’s standouts at the 2004 Outback Bowl, Russell ran for 101 yards and scored twice to help his team — Aina — beat Kai 26-7 in the 2004 Hula Bowl.

Russell was named the game’s MVP after scoring on runs of 12 and 35 yards.

Ainia — which means “land” in Hawaiian — was coached by Ohio State’s Jim Tressell. Kai — which means “ocean” — was coached by Maryland’s Ralph Friedgen.
