IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team dropped two to Big Ten foes Indiana and Minnesota at the UI Field House Pool today. The Hawkeyes lost in the final event to 25th ranked Indiana 149-145, then fell to eighth rated Minnesota 167-133.
Junior Elliot Ptasnik and freshman Peter Ranstead led the way for the Hawkeyes. Ptasnik came away with second place in the 200 yard breaststroke and also added a fourth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. Ranstead came away with a victory in the 50 yard freestyle after posting a time of 20.62. Ranstead also finished in fifth in the 100 yard freestyle. Junior Timo Klami was the only two event winner for Iowa. Klami swept the diving events with scores of 303.20 in the 1 meter competition and 332.05 in the 3 meter event.
The Hawkeyes will compete next Saturday in Colombia, MO against the Missouri Tigers, competition will begin at 5 p.m.
