hawkeyesports.com visited recently with junior centerLindsay Geoffroy from Los Alamitos, CA. Here’s a piece of that conversation.
After being at Iowa for a couple of years now, has it been everything you imagined it to be after coming from sunny California? Why?
“After being here at Iowa, I have definitely adjusted to the new surroundings. I love that there are seasons here like fall and winter. The colors are beautiful and I found that the snow can actually be fun! The people here are also nicer and more welcoming than they are in California. I do like it here, but there is just something about home that I could never leave.”
“If I were stuck on an island I think that I would want Johanna because she would just sleep all day and we would get along. I would also take Jamie so that I would have someone to talk to and act stupid with when I need something to do.”

If you were to enter a karaoke contest right now, which song would you sing to claim the title?
“Some people might think that this is silly, but I would sing a song written by Boys II Men because they are my favorite group.”
If you were to be a guest star on any TV show past or present, which one would it be and why?
“I think that it would have to be The Price is Right. Of all the years I have lived in California I’ve admired the people on the show. I would hope to win a car or some big bucks and a vacation.”
What is something that you cannot imagine your life without? Why?
“I could not live without my mom and dad. They have always been there for me and I could never imagine them not being there for the big moments in my life. They have given me more than I deserve and have loved me no matter what.”
What is your most embarrassing moment on the court?
“My most embarrassing moment would have to be my senior year of high school. I had just come back from hurting my ankle after being out for a while and was playing in my first game. The ball got stuck up in the rim of the hoop and I thought I would be cool and get it out. Well I had not completely gotten my strength back and needless to say I looked like a fool when I couldn’t get the ball out.”
What is your worst fear?
“My worst fear would have to be dying unexpectedly and my family and friends not knowing that I love them or hearing me say that I love them.”
What is your biggest pet peeve?
“When someone says that they want to do something with you, which you have been planning for a while, and they don’t show up or call. Then you end up having to do it yourself because it’s too last minute to ask anyone else.”
What is your favorite thing about Iowa City?
“My favorite thing about Iowa City is that it is such a college town. There are always students around and the community is so supportive of us.”
If you were stranded on a deserted island, which two of your teammates would you would want to have with you and why?
“If I were stuck on an island I think that I would want Johanna because she would just sleep all day and we would get along. I would also take Jamie so that I would have someone to talk to and act stupid with when I need something to do.”
What are your impressions so far on the new season of MTV’s “The Real World”?
“The new season of The Real World is awful. The only thing that I wish I could do if I were on that show would be the sailing… although it does make me miss home.”
