The eighth-ranked Iowa GymHawks were unable to pull an upset, losing to #4 Utah, 197.65 – 195.9. The Hawkeyes set a new school record on vault with a score of 49.525. This beats the previous record of 49.4, set at Illinois last season.
Alexis Maday tied for first on floor with a 9.925. She also tied for third on vault, tying her career record, and finished third on beam. Maday was Iowa’s top all-arounder, tying for third with a 39.55. On vault, Stephanie Gran tied for first with a 9.975 and Kortny Williamson tied for third while setting a new career record (9.95). Sophomore Liz Grajewski gave a solid performance for the GymHawks, tying for fourth on beam with a career-high 9.85 and tying for fifth on bars. Grajewski also set a career-record on vault with a 9.85.
The GymHawks will compete next at Maryland February 14 beginning at 6 p.m.
