IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team fell to 15th ranked Northwestern (186-157). Despite the loss the Hawkeyes swam some of their fastest times of the season.

Iowa’s 200 medley relay team of Kevin Velleca, Calvin Shelangoski, Tomasz Dziedzic and Pete Ranstead swam the second fastest time in the Big Ten (1:29.92). Junior Timo Klami and freshman Tomasz Dziedzic led the Hawkeyes. Dziedzic took second in both the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley. His first place time of 48.32 in the 100 butterfly was a season best for the Hawkeyes as well as a personal best by over one second. Klami took first in both the one and three meter diving events. His score of 381.67 in the three meter competition was a season best for the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes will compete next at the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, IN on February 26-28.
