Women Tied For Fourth After Day One

MINNEAPOLIS, MN

The University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team is in a three-way tie for fourth after the first day of competition at the 2004 Big Ten Championships. The Hawkeyes are tied with Purdue and Minnesota with 56 points after two events.

The 200-medley relay team of Jennifer Skolaski, Emmy Haeger, Kelly Werner, and Katie Haeger placed fifth with a finals time of 1:42.94. The Hawkeyes shaved almost four seconds off of their preliminary time of 1:46.65, and smashed their season best time of 1:47.01. In the 800-free relay, the team of Skolaski, Christie Hooper, Katelyn Eustis, and Joyce VanKeulen finished in 7:18.90, good enough for fifth place.

Tomorrow’s competition will begin at 11 a.m.
