Delgado Named Big Ten Player of the Week

Iowa men’s tennis player Sebastian Delgado (Guayaquil, Ecuador) was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week for his performance in Iowa’s wins over Marquette and Indiana State last weekend. The announcement came today from the Big Ten Conference.

Delgado went 2-0 in singles competition at the No. 2 position and is currently on a three-match winning streak. The freshman defeated Marquette’s Eigis Vedrickas without losing a game in the 6-0, 6-0 win. Delgado also teamed with sophomore Parker Ross to post a 2-0 record at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo is undefeated at 3-0.

The honor is the first for Delgado. The Hawkeyes return to action tonight at Drake. Competition is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Drake Tennis Center
